This paper describes the results of absolute gravity measurements carried out on four stations in Croatia. Figure shows an overview map of Croatia with the locations of stations. The measurements are the result of cooperation among the Federal Agency for Cartography and Geodesy (Frankfurt am Main, Germany), the State Geodetic Administration (Zagreb, Croatia) and the Faculty of Geodesy, University of Zagreb.

Within the project UNIGRACE (Unification of gravity systems in Central and Eastern Europe), which is founded by the European Commission, measurements in Osijek and Dubrovnik shall be performed twice with independent equipment. Measurements are performed with the FG5 absolute gravimeter and high accuracies of 1-3 microGal have been obtained so far. At the same time relative gravity measurements have been used to obtain the vertical gravity gradient on these points. The project shall be finished by the end of the year 2000, resulting in a very good starting position for the establishment of the new Croatian Gravimetric Network by means of relative gravimeters owned by the State Geodetic Administration.
